Causes :-

1. Excessive deposition of the tartar which leads to the inflammation gums and resorption(wearing off) of the supporting bone of the teeth.

2. Ageing phenomenon.

3. Defficiency of calcium.

4. Familial / hereditary reasons.

5. Failure to replace the missing teeth.

6. Diabetes.
